Theme: Still Being Written: He’s Not Done with You – His Grace Is Still Unfolding
Theme Scripture: Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Set against the vibrant backdrop of autumn at Camp Wakonda, the Women’s Ministries Fall Retreat offered a weekend of spiritual renewal, heartfelt connection, and divine inspiration. Women from across the conference gathered to reflect on their personal journeys and embrace the truth that God’s grace is still unfolding in each of their lives.
Keynote speaker Beth Grissom, Director of Women’s and Prayer Ministries for the Carolina Conference, delivered powerful, Spirit-led messages. Through her personal testimony and biblical insights, Beth reminded attendees that their stories are still being written by the Author of grace. Her words brought both laughter and tears, resonating deeply with those present. Drawing from Revelation 2:17, she explored the significance of being renamed by God—just as Abram became Abraham and Sarai became Sarah. Each woman received a white stone and was encouraged to ask God, “What is my new name?”
Sabbath morning featured a guided, interactive experience led by Dr. Brenda Mouzon, inviting women to reflect on their life chapters, release burdens, and celebrate God’s grace. The afternoon offered a variety of breakout sessions designed to nurture spiritual growth and personal reflection:
- Prayer Walk: A journey through the biblical lands of Moab and Judah, exploring God’s guidance in the lives of Ruth and Naomi.
- Pampering You: Centered on Psalm 46:10, this session encouraged stillness and self-care as a means of experiencing God’s presence.
- Sea Salt Scrub Workshop: A creative activity connecting the Sanctuary Service of the past with its meaning for today.
- My Story, His Promises: A time of prayer and affirmation where women rejected the enemy’s lies, embraced God’s promises, and created personal prayer-ring booklets.
- Your Story in the Sands of Time: Participants filled glass vases with colored sand—each hue representing a chapter of their lives—symbolizing the beauty and uniqueness of their stories.
- Just Breathe: A practical session focused on implementing lifestyle changes to improve brain health and overall well-being.
The evening brought joyful fellowship with a “Harvest of Grace Hayride” led by Elgin and Becky Ziesmer, followed by cozy campfire conversations and sweet or savory s’mores. The night concluded with laughter and friendly competition during “Harvest of Blessings Bingo.”
Many attendees shared that this retreat was among the best they had ever experienced. We thank God for His presence and grace throughout the weekend and for the lives touched and transformed.
A heartfelt thank-you to the Women’s Ministries Planning Committee, whose dedication made this retreat possible: Becky Kraft, Tammy Elmer, Tola Ewers, Brenda Mouzon, Sue Strobush, Nadine Thomas, Carrie Veldman, and Carole Villanueva.
