Wisconsin Academy (WA) Senior, Preston Carter, recently received the 2024 Susan Berry Leadership in Handbells Award during RingFest, held in Toledo, Ohio. One bell choir student in the North American Division who “demonstrates outstanding leadership in the art of handbells” is selected each year to receive the award. The award is based on musical ability, handbell technique, and the leadership character traits exhibited by the candidate. Eighteen schools from across the nation were represented at RingFest this year with over 300 participants glorifying God through music with handbells. This is the first time in the twenty-four year history of the festival that a Wisconsin Academy student has received the award!
Preston is a three year member of Bellissimi Cerchi, the select handbell choir at Wisconsin Academy. Preston is also a member of Concert Choir and Choralaires, as well as leading out in the praise team, making him an integral part of WA’s music program. He has plans to continue his music education at the college level and seeks to one day become a music director.
Congratulations Preston and thank you for your leadership!
