Many Gather for Annual Northern District Sabbath

On Sabbath, October 7, nearly 200 people gathered at the Rice Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church grounds to share a day of worship and fellowship. Dr. Ortiz, director of the Master of Divinity (MDiv) program at Andrews University’s Theological Seminary, shared three presentations encouraging those present to get involved in mission focused ministry in their local church and beyond. He shared inspiring stories of revival and outreach among churches he has worked with. Dr. Ortiz is also the founder of Care for Cuba, a ministry that trains and empowers pastors, Bible workers, and seminarians to evangelize and provide crucial resources to the churches and pastors in Cuba. He shared how students in the MDiv program have been able to minister in that country.

One of Wisconsin Academy’s WAY Teams was in attendance and blessed the congregation by leading song service and sharing special music. They also shared their 1st WA News Broadcast which gave an update on what is happening on campus.

Across the parking lot, many of our Wisconsin Pathfinders were also meeting. Wisconsin Youth Department shared the following on their Wakonda Facebook page: “Over 50 youth (with 5 Pathfinder clubs represented) enjoyed our Up North! Youth Day in conjunction with the annual Northern District Sabbath. Glen Morrow taught the Bubbles Honor, where young people learned about the science of air pressure, entropy, and surface tension. They crafted large bubble wands and learned what substances strengthen bubble solutions. And Pastor Zack gave a devotional about guarding your thoughts about God and yourself, which led to the youth crafting positive and helpful thought bubbles. We look forward to continuing this tradition into next year, and hope to see even more of our youth get involved!”

All groups gathered together to share a delicious potluck lunch in the gymnasium before heading back to their afternoon programing.

We are grateful for these opportunities to come together to learn and grow in our relationships with God and one another. Plan now to attend next year’s gathering!
