Prophecy Countdown: Online Presence Beyond Wisconsin

Prophecy Countdown: Online Presence Beyond Wisconsin

During the recent Prophecy Countdown series led by the Wisconsin Conference, the Durand Seventh-day Adventist Church joined in as one of the satellite sites. We had a number of people in the community who responded and attended the series in person. We also live streamed the series in three locations:

The Durand Christian Seventh-day Adventist Church Facebook page
The Durand Seventh-day Adventist Church YouTube account
The Lifting Christ Facebook page

Through the Durand Christian SDA Church Facebook page, we had at least 150 people watching with us during and after the program. In addition, some of our church members started sharing the videos for their friends to watch.

With our new YouTube account, we had at least 60 people watching, both subscribers and non-subscribers.

On the “Lifting Christ” Facebook page, we had nearly 4,000 views, 57 shares, and 10,542 people reached just on the first night! The following nights, the viewers were pretty much consistent with these numbers.

Jesus’ Great Commission says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:19 NKJV.

If I were to do a verse translation of Jesus’ great commission in the context of the 21st century, the “all nations” could also be different platforms or social media. In our times, when people are disconnected because of the pandemic, these platforms could be paths for all people to hear the gospel message.

The Durand Seventh-day Adventist Church has been very active with its online presence in recent years. In 2020, we created the Facebook and YouTube accounts used during Prophecy Countdown.

Also, the church has been able to connect to the Lifting Christ Facebook page and the ministry of Pastor Edgar Bryan Tolentino, who spoke at the church last year for a revival series. The page has almost 50 thousand followers all over the world.\

I pray that we will do and invest more in our online presence as this is becoming the new norm in this age.
