The Reason the Church Exists

Presidential February 24, 2026

The church exists because God has a mission and a people through whom He chooses to accomplish it. It is more than a building or an organization — it is a living, breathing community where hearts are nurtured, faith is strengthened, and lives are transformed. Within its embrace, individuals grow spiritually and emotionally, and together we experience the joy of worship, fellowship, and shared purpose.

At its core, the church exists to fulfill Jesus’ great commission — to advance God’s Kingdom on earth. Evangelism is not simply an event marked on a calendar or a series of meetings planned once a year. It is the heartbeat of the church. It is the daily, intentional, and compassionate work of leading people to Jesus and walking alongside them as they grow in Him.

Everything we do should reflect this sacred calling. From children’s ministries in our churches, schools, and camps, to programs for youth, adults, and seniors — every activity becomes meaningful when it points others to Christ. Whether through worship, service, education, or fellowship, we are called to reveal His love to those who are searching, hurting, and lost.

Now may be the perfect moment to prayerfully evaluate all we do, ensuring that our efforts align with Christ’s command to proclaim the gospel to the world — in person, in our communities, and through digital platforms that extend our reach farther than ever before.

When a culture of evangelism fills the church, something beautiful happens. Spiritual growth deepens. Passion for mission ignites. And as hearts are transformed, the church grows — not merely in numbers, but in faith, love, and power.

The church exists to shine.
The church exists to love.
The church exists to go.
