President’s Monthly Update: July 2023

The highlights for June are:

I attended the Andrews University Board of Trustees via Zoom. It was an important first meeting of the new term. The reports of the president, Provost, and CFO were presented and approved.

I attended the Memorial Service for Elder Mike Edge in Calhoun, GA, with my wife, Rozina, and several other Wisconsin Conference personnel. Another memorial service is scheduled for July 29 at 4:00 pm at the Wisconsin Academy Church.

This month I was part of the Wisconsin Academy Finance Committee, Board of Education, Executive Committee, Personnel Committee, Camp Management Committee, the North American Division Executive Committee, and AdventHealth Durand Board.

I was part of a Zoom meeting with the Lake Union Officers, presidents of the other five conferences in our Union, and the officers of the South Union in Peru. Future collaboration was discussed with a focus on mission, education, and ministry.

The most crucial event in June was our annual camp meeting. Overall it was a blessing from God, besides the four new buildings for the youth divisions, renovated bathrooms, new family bathrooms, Cedar Lodge renovations, upgraded Nature Center, and other improvements on the entire campground. Next year, the camp pitch will be one day shorter.

After camp meeting, the conference office personnel had a staff meeting focusing on debriefing from camp meeting. Several changes and improvements were suggested, and in the following months, they will be analyzed and applied accordingly.

The medical building at Camp Wakonda will be demolished shortly after the summer camps end, and new construction will start soon. The exterior of Cedar Lodge will be finished before our next camp meeting.

I am grateful to God, and all our ministry partners, for the blessings we received this year in our churches, schools, camp, and office. I am sure that 2023 will remain a reference point in the history of our conference.

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Psalm 100:4.
