Each year for the past five years Portage has been holding cooking classes. The classes are scheduled for an evening during the week in both the spring and fall of the year and usually last four weeks. Generally each week has a theme such as Italian night or terrific tofu.
Church members as well as visitors help out and get involved in learning how to make changes in their diets and the benefits to eating healthier. All of the meals planned are easy and quick, using ingredients they can find at their local grocery store.
For two of the evenings the local chiropractor Dr. Blau ,and his coworker Dr. Jess, spoke on diabetes as well as the harmful effects of stress. There was a good turnout each evening with a good mix of members and visitors.
