Obed Salazar New Associate Pastor for Eau Claire District

We are happy to welcome Obed Salazar to the Wisconsin Conference. He began serving as the associate pastor for the Eau Claire district the beginning of June, 2023. Pastor Salazar is a recent graduate from Southern Adventist University and is returning to serve in his home state. Something that most people may not know about him is that, although raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was actually born in Zacatecas, Mexico.

Pastor Salazar was born and raised in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He says, “My path to pastoral ministry began long before I knew it thanks to my parents who were always heavily involved in church activities, which by default meant that my siblings and I were heavily involved in church.” Salazar also gives credit to a couple of church members who became his mentors when he was a young boy, and to the Seventh-Day Adventist school system which he attended from 1st grade all the way through college. Although he felt God’s calling to pastoral ministry as a boy, it wasn’t until the end of his junior year in high school that he decided to surrender his plans to God and accept His calling.

Pastor Salazar considers himself to be a very active person and enjoys any sport or physical activity like soccer, basketball, football, hiking, swimming and cycling. He likes working with his hands and some of his favorite hobbies are carpentry and lawn care. He says, “Out of all the things I enjoy doing, eating ice cream is probably my favorite.”
