On Sabbath, September 7, three teachers at the Milwaukee Seventh-day Adventist School received the Commissioned Ministry of Teaching Credential during a special service held at the Milwaukee Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Commissioned Ministry of Teaching Credential is the highest recognition given to an Adventist school teacher by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Teachers who receive this credential are celebrated through public recognition for their commitment and years of experience in the Seventh-day Adventist system of education. For a teacher to be chosen for this honor, they must demonstrate proficiency in assigned responsibilities and also exhibit Christian responsibility for nurturing and leading souls to Christ. These teachers uphold Christ as the focal point of all curriculum and instruction and demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships. They also provide an environment of social, spiritual and emotional stability.
During the sermon, entitled A Noble Calling, Debbie Darnall and Sue Nelson shared about the Biblical characters, Moses and Daniel, that had a noble calling given to them by God. Jacie Reagan (Principal), Alberto Torres (Grades 7-10), and Gene Kittredge (Kindergarten) share may notable qualities with these great men which has equipped them for the calling God has placed on their lives.
Like Daniel, Jacie is a team player and works very hard – persevering through trials with God’s help. Alberto and Moses both empowered those around them to be leaders and were committed to leading people to know Jesus. Gene has the problem-solving skills of Moses when working with his K4 and K5 classroom.
Elder Titus Naftanaila, Wisconsin Conference president, skillfully finished the ceremony by giving these three dedicated teachers a charge to be disciples for Jesus as they lead the youth. He invited family and coworkers to surround Jacie, Alberto and Gene in a special prayer.
We appreciate the dedication of these three teachers to Adventist Education in the Wisconsin Conference.
