Hike & Bike for Durand Promotes Health in the Community

On July 11, 2021, the Durand Seventh-day Adventist Church hosted Hike & Bike for Durand, with the purpose of promoting health as well as helping the local food pantry. Sponsored by AdventHealth Durand, the event brought thirty six individuals from both the church and community.

For the “Hike” portion, individuals could choose to go 5K or 10K along with the “Bike” portion of 20K. Participants were excited to be involved and said that the church needs to do this again in the fall. Church leaders hope to make this an annual event and are looking into making that a reality.

Lester Carney, head elder of the Durand Church, coordinated the event with the help of AdventHealth Durand CEO, Doug Peterson. District pastor, Ivandale Remocal reports that it was a successful day with proceeds going to the local Durand Pantry. He said, “It is the prayer of the church that, in simple ways, we can connect to the community and meet their needs.”
