The 2025–2026 school year is off to a vibrant and faith-filled start across the Wisconsin Conference schools. Educators, administrators, and students have entered the new year united under the theme “For God’s Glory,” inspired by Matthew 5:16—“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” This powerful reminder has guided preparations, trainings, and the spirit of collaboration as our schools shine Christ’s light through learning and service.
Throughout the summer, professional development opportunities equipped educators with tools to strengthen both instruction and leadership. The Small Schools Intensive, held from June 26 to 30, provided focused training for small-school educators and principals, emphasizing effective teaching strategies, curriculum development, and ways to nurture spiritual growth in tight-knit learning communities. The Small Schools Principal Leadership Training offered additional support, empowering school leaders to guide their teams with wisdom, compassion, and vision.
In early August, teachers gathered for in-service days filled with learning and collaboration. Sessions included “The Science of Reading/UFLI Training” with Nicole Mattson, “Reading Comprehension” with Dr. Wadzie Bepe, “Having Difficult Conversations” with Doug Cross, and “CPR Certification” led by Chris Delapp. These sessions not only enhanced classroom practices but also fostered teamwork and renewed enthusiasm for the shared mission of Adventist education.
A highlight of September was the annual Outdoor Education event, held from September 10 to 12, under the theme “Treasures of the Earth.” Students from across the conference came together to explore God’s creation through hands-on activities and nature-based learning. This experience deepened their appreciation for the environment and reminded them that all knowledge and discovery ultimately point back to the Creator.
Wisconsin Academy also began the year with energy and excitement. Principal Derek Timms reported a positive start, with a dedicated staff, engaged students, and continued focus on excellence in academics and spiritual development. Accreditation processes are moving forward across several schools, ensuring that each institution continues to meet high standards while upholding the mission and values of Adventist education.
As Superintendent Baun expressed in her closing remarks, this year’s theme—“For God’s Glory”—calls everyone involved in Adventist education to reflect Christ in all they do. From classroom lessons to outdoor experiences, every effort is designed to help students grow in wisdom, faith, and service. The Wisconsin Conference Education Department extends heartfelt gratitude to all teachers, staff, administrators, and board members for their unwavering dedication and support. Together, we are truly shining for God’s glory.
Katrina Baun,
Superintendent of Education
