Global Youth Day & OUTREACH (JAHWI) Report 2023

Hispanic Global Youth Day & OUTREACH

Hispanic Global Youth Day & OUTREACH

English version

The Hispanic Global Youth Day was celebrated in Wisconsin on March 17 and 18, 2023 at the Milwaukee Seventh-day Adventist School. Pastor Brayan Maldonado, a Master of Divinity student at Andrews University, presented important messages for the youth. In addition, everyone enjoyed the delicious lunch together.

As was the plan, on Sabbath afternoon the JAHWI (Hispanic Adventist Youth of Wisconsin) Board organized groups of youth to go to different fire departments and police stations to thank them for their work for the safety of the community.

Other groups of youth drove through the streets to distribute bags with necessary hygiene items for the homeless and to pray for them.

Due to the low temperatures, some community service activities that were planned could not take place.

After the community service activities, the young people shared their experience participating in the activities.

Of special interest was the experience of a particular group of young people who went to the streets to minister to the homeless. At first, they walked the streets and couldn’t find anyone, due to the cold temperature. After going around to several places, one of the youth said, “Let’s go now, there are no needy people on the streets.” Another young man suggested, “Let’s keep looking” and when they reached a corner, they found a woman there. When they got out of the car to talk to her and give her a bag, she asked them for money, possibly to buy drugs. She also told them that she had a sick family member at home.

The group of youth offered to pray for her and at that moment, she began to cry and expressed her desire to get out of the drug habit. She then asked if they would go to her home so they could also pray for her sick family member. Without thinking twice, the young people went with her and prayed at her house for the family member who was sick. At the end of the visit, the young people offered them Bible studies and to visit them later. The woman and her family gladly accepted!

The youth learned an important lesson that day –  you always have to keep looking and don’t give up until you find those who are waiting to be rescued.

After the end of the spiritual program, the young people had a lot of fun enjoying sports activities.

I pray that God blesses the Wisconsin Youth and I encourage them to do God’s work until Christ returns!
