Wisconsin Teacher Meetings August 4-5, 2020

The first morning of teacher’s meetings  started with worship by Elder Adam Case, our Ministerial Director. Then the elementary teachers had training by Lori Randall and Chris Davisson, pilot teachers in Michigan Conference, in the new math curriculum called Big Ideas.

In the afternoon, Janine Show, Student Success teacher at Wisconsin Academy, led the teachers in how to use MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing. This will replace the IOWA/ITBS tests that have been previously used.

After supper teachers returned for Google training with Richard Bergeson. Wisconsin teachers have dedicated hours of training on various platforms such as Google Classroom or Seesaw to ensure student success in the 2020-2021 school year. Deidra Roat led some teachers in a fun art project where the teachers created a picture with their name and a Bible promise.

Wednesday morning Wisconsin Academy joined the elementary  teachers for worship with Elder Edge. This was followed by Cindy Stephen sharing resources from It is Written, and Lori Aguilera, Illinois Superintendent of Education, presenting through zoom on helping students with special needs and accessing state resources. The morning ended with a dedication prayer by Elder Edge for the teachers. The elementary teachers finished the day with a presentation on art and music by Charlyn Marsh.

I witnessed a wonderful camaraderie among the teachers and a willingness to support and encourage each other. May God bless each teacher as they prepare for the 2020-2021 school year.
