Wisconsin Conference 6th Annual Spelling Bee

Wisconsin Conference 6th Annual Spelling Bee

Ask any of the third or fourth grade students participating in the Spelling Bee what the one rule was they must use as they spelled some 212 words and they will tell you, “say it – spell it – say it.”

Twenty-eight third graders and 17 fourth graders from six Wisconsin elementary schools met at the Wisconsin Conference office, Monday, March 25, 2019, from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm for the competition. Each student competed within their own grade in the first round and then the top six from each grade competed against each other in the final round.

The top speller from the final round of the Spelling Bee was Joel Siner from Milwaukee SDA School – North Campus. He didn’t hesitate to give credit to his teacher, Althea Elliott, for practicing the spelling words with him. Before sitting down, he asked Linda for the microphone and gave some experienced advice, “Study hard for next year, third graders!”

The top six spellers from each grade:

3rd Grade

1st            Abby Britain, Three Angels Christian School

2nd           Adam Ly, Milwaukee SDA School – North Campus

3rd           Jacqueline Johnson-Pottinger, Milwaukee SDA School – North Campus

We enjoyed seeing each and every student participate and hope this helps instill a desire in them to keep learning and practicing their words.
