Project-Based Learning Fair held at Wisconsin Academy

Last weekend, Wisconsin Academy hosted the first Wisconsin Conference Project-Based Learning Fair, a special event for 7-10th grade students, sponsored by the Education Department. In addition to showcasing their projects in the gym, the students spent time exploring STEM themes.

They inflated a pig lung and discussed breathing issues with a respiratory therapist and tried out limited-mobility exercises with a fitness and exercise assistant who works at a retirement and assisted living facility. They learned how the Phoenix Force robotics team from Middleton won competitions with their student-designed robot and got to try their hand at controlling some robotic vehicles. They also explored the opportunities and challenges of social media.  Wisconsin Academy freshmen and sophomores participated in the events while juniors and seniors helped keep things running smoothly by supervising, leading groups, running errands, and helping in the cafeteria.

Thank-you to education superintendent Sue Nelson and her crew for a wonderful weekend of learning and fun!
