Camp Lamp: Monday - Wisconsin Academy, Continuing the Legacy

Thank you, Ken Smith, for your dedication to WA!

Camp Meeting June 17, 2024

Another school year has successfully come and gone at Wisconsin Academy with the graduating of our 74th class. New friendships were made, old traditions brought back, and we felt an overwhelming amount of support from our alumni. We were privileged to witness three of our students being baptized in the presence of their loved ones and classmates, a true witness of our school’s mission. One thing that can be said without a shadow of a doubt is God has been blessing our campus.

This year was the start of a five-year campus improvement plan. Our maintenance department has been hard at work and thanks to their dedication, the support from gracious volunteers, and extremely generous donors, we have made great headway in reaching that goal.

Some standout moments from the year include: the Soap Slide, Mud Bowl, Newmyer Classic basketball tournament, and the much-loved Reformation Tour. Leading up to the tour, students engaged in a Reformation class delving into the history of the early church and its influential figures. Participants, including students, parents, and alumni, had the exciting opportunity to witness history firsthand by retracing the steps of these reformers.

The Wisconsin Academy Knights made us proud bringing home the Team Sportsmanship Award at Andrews University’s Newmyer Classic basketball tournament, reflecting the core principle on which the tournament was established.

The Mud Bowl was brought back for the first time since the fall of 2006 and was an instant favorite amongst the students.

The Soap Slide was made bigger and better with students zipping down a large waterslide into the Crawfish River.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, the staff of Wisconsin Academy would like to thank former principal Ken Smith for his dedication to Adventist education and keeping Wisconsin Academy on track for a successful future. We welcome new principal, Derek Timms, to the Wisconsin Academy family as he keeps the momentum rolling for another prosperous school year.

The Wisconsin Academy Alumni Association is excitedly planning the school’s 75th Anniversary, which will be held during Alumni Weekend, April 18 – 20, 2025. Please come and help us celebrate both this milestone and 125 years of secondary education in Wisconsin!

Be sure to stop by our WA Cabin and say hello or come to one of our WA sponsored events around the campgrounds. Don’t forget to stop by the Snack Shack and support the Senior Class of 2025 as they work hard raising money for their class mission trip to Hawaii.

Thank you all for your support of our school and continue to keep us in your prayers as we Develop Leaders Today Who Will Walk with Jesus Into Eternity.

LeAnne Baptist, Wisconsin Academy Development Director
