New Teacher at Milwaukee SDA North

Education June 19, 2025

Stephen Horvath brings both heart and experience to the classroom. He earned his degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education. Graduating in the spring of 2021, he began his teaching career in Frederick County Public Schools, where he served as a substitute in both general and special education settings. From 2023 to 2025, he taught 3rd and 4th grade in Dover, Delaware.

Stephen and his wife Rosie recently celebrated 13 years of marriage. Together, they have a 7-year-old daughter named Jessie. Before becoming a teacher, Stephen worked in construction as a brick mason while volunteering in various parts of the world and contributing to grounds maintenance and construction projects.

An avid nature enthusiast, Stephen finds peace and inspiration in the outdoors. Birding is one of his most significant personal interests. He enjoys capturing his observations and sharing the beauty of God’s creation with others through photography. He also spends time hiking, biking, and camping whenever possible. He loves learning and new experiences. One place that has especially captured his attention is the Amazon region of Brazil—he’s drawn to its remarkable biodiversity and unique culture, including a fondness for the area’s traditional foods such as tapioca with tucumã.

Stephen’s faith plays a central role in his life and work. His favorite verse that continues to inspire him is Isaiah 40:31:“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…”

He brings that same spirit of renewal, curiosity, and wonder into his classroom—encouraging his students to stay engaged, explore boldly, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
