Justin Broers, a member of the La Crosse Seventh-day Adventist Church, takes time out of his weekly schedule to volunteer for the La Crosse County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC). As part of their Senior Nutrition Program, Justin spends a few hours every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday delivering meals to 10 individuals in West Salem, WI who are no longer able to get out much and don’t do a lot of cooking for themselves.
Justin enjoys listening to the stories they tell about their younger years and has gotten to know them well over the past 3 years he has been delivering meals. Some of the people he visits live alone and really appreciate his time in coming to talk with them. It means a lot to them to see a friendly face each day, especially since he might be the only person they see or talk to all day.
