Dr. Rodney Palmer Speaker for Northern District Sabbath

On October 5, 2024, the churches in the northern districts of the Wisconsin Conference will gather together at the Rice Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church for their annual joint Sabbath celebration. The guest speaker for the day will be Dr. Rodney Anthony Palmer, DMin, PhD, CTSS. Throughout the day, he will be sharing three presentations:

  • Presentation 1: “Whose Image is on You?”
  • Presentation 2: “Go Forward!”
  • Presentation 3: “Lessons from a Blind Man” 

Dr. Palmer is the chair of the Department of Religion and Biblical Languages and Associate Professor of Religion, specializing in the areas of Homiletics and Practical Theology at Andrews University (AU). He is an ordained minister, a Formative Dialogue on Teaching Faculty Colleague, a Certified Trauma Support Specialist, an AU Advisory Board member for the International Center for Trauma Education and Care, NetVUE faculty fellow, president-elect of the Adventist Society of Religious Studies, and chair of the Undergraduate Council.

Dr. Palmer was born in Jamaica and pastored in the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for nine years. Before coming to Andrews University, he served three years as a Senior Pastor in the Wisconsin Conference and as a Lake Union Conference Executive Committee member.

Dr. Palmer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion (2005) from Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica; a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (2009) and a Master of Divinity in Leadership (2010) from Liberty University, VA; a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Prophetic Preaching and Praxis (2014) from United Theological Seminary, OH; and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Andrews University (2024). Dr. Palmer is a member of the Adventist Theological Society, Academy of Homiletics, Adventist Society for Religious Studies, Society of Biblical Literature, and the Association of Youth Ministry Educators.

Dr. Palmer is married to Alyssa (JD, UW-Madison), the Assistant Vice-President for Campus and Student Life and Title IX Coordinator at AU. The Palmers are the proud parents of Luke and Emerson.
