Over the weekend of April 19-21, Wisconsin Academy (WA) held their annual alumni weekend. With many graduating classes represented, the academy chapel was filled with returning alumni that enjoyed catching up with one another.
The weekend kicked off with several alumni presenting a Career Day for current WA students on Friday, April 19. That evening alumni joined the students for a special vespers program with a message by Lamont Taylor (’86), entitled “Believe The Promise.”
Sabbath morning found the chapel filled with alumni, student and church members joining together in worship. During Sabbath School, English Teacher, Danielle Lawrence, shared about the recent Reformation Tour that current students, staff, families and alumni took together. At the conclusion of the presentation several students sang an original song, “Stay Faithful” which they wrote while on the bus nearing the end of the tour.
The church service began with the annual roll call followed by the presentations of Alumnus of the Year and Educator of the Year. During the service, a video was shared celebrating the start of the 75th year of education at Wisconsin Academy including interviews with former staff and alumni as well as a report on the Plant improvement projects happening on campus. Just before the sermon, the WA and Alumni choir joined together in singing “Give Me Jesus” under the direction of Davina Fingerson. Jim Zeismer (’74) shared the sermon entitled, “It’s About Time.” Following the service, everyone joined together for a fellowship meal in the cafeteria.
Sabbath afternoon attendees enjoyed a musical concert given by alumni. The Sabbath closed with Hallowed Moments where Carl Sigler shared the message.
Sunday morning brought a new aspect to Alumni Weekend with a joint Work Bee where current students and alumni worked side-by-side on projects around campus.
It is beautiful to see all the many alumni return each year to Wisconsin Academy and to hear about how God has been blessing them and the school!
