Sabbath, April 20, 2024 was a high Sabbath for the Madison Community Seventh-day Adventist Church as they baptized three new members! Akeem Powell, Kris Grant, and Andria Lewis each had been studying separately with Pastor Rowell Puedivan, and each made a decision to follow Jesus all the way to baptism.
Akeem Powell, originally from Jamaica, requested to sing a song before his baptism because in the last few months he had felt an irresistible pull to Jesus and he couldn’t deny it. He had never sung before an audience previously, but lyrics of the Cory Asbury song resonated with his life and heart: “the overwhelming, never-ending ‘Reckless Love’ of God leaves the 99 coming after me.”
Kris Grant made her decision to be baptized after watching our Easter musical, “A.D.” She immediately joined our Worship Praise Team and sang for the first time the day of her baptism.
Andria Lewis, also originally from Jamaica, surprised Pastor Puedivan by coming up to be baptized as Akeem and Kris were introduced. Andria had attended previous prophecy seminars and talked often with Pastor Rowell. As Akeem and Kris were coming forward, Andria felt the Holy Spirit prompting her, and she responded.
We praise God for these three precious individuals who have found Jesus as their personal Lord, Savior, and friend!
We also welcomed two membership transfers whose Second Reading was the same day – Sandra and Eric Gordon. Therefore, our church family celebrated with five new members on the same day. What a blessing to witness God’s children desire to follow Him!
