7 Miles Health Fair in Wisconsin

The Milwaukee Central Hispanic Adventist Church recently held its “Live Healthy, Live Better, Live More” health fair at the 7 Mile Fair Market. They were joined by the Wisconsin Hispanic Women’s Ministries health leaders.

The health ministry leader from the church, Hilda Reyes, was there early with volunteers to set up all the tables for the fair. Yudith López, from Wautoma Hispanic Church, who is one of the health leaders of the Hispanic Women’s Ministry, directed the organization of each station along with volunteers. This event was scheduled to happen from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The team of health leaders currently consists of, Sonia Sánchez, Noemí Miranda, Daniela Botello, Ramona Peralta, and Yudith López. Joining the team were Santiago Mejía in temperance and Pastor Latouche in the Trust in God station, as volunteers, offering orientation and education about the 8 Natural Remedies.

The Registration was directed by Yireisy Frías and Abigail Peralta who did an excellent job, writing down the names of those who wanted to participate. All participants were directed by ushers to each station at the fair. The stations began with Water, followed by Rest, Exercise, Sunlight, Nursing and Doctor, Fresh Air, Nutrition, Temperance, and finally, Trust in God.

The Pathfinders, led by Karla Meléndez, were in another area distributing literature and promoting the health fair and inviting everyone to participate.

In the medical station, Dr. Plasencia was educating and advising each guest. Registered nurses, Paty Alegría and Merari Salazar, helped by taking blood pressure, glucose tests, blood tests and recording the weight of the patients. Kasandra, a nursing student, was also there as a nurse’s aide.

At the end of the event, participants were offered a snack that included sprouts which was prepared as an example of the healthy way to feed your family.

About 100 people visited this health fair. It was very encouraging to see people going through each station and become interested in knowing how to live better, prevent diseases and accepting God’s message through the literature that was distributed to them.

We want to say a big thank you to all the volunteers of the Central Church, the health team leaders and Noemi Miranda, leader of Hispanic Health Ministries.
