Grow Confident in Christ at Camp Wakonda

Summer camp is soon approaching and we are excited!  Our theme this year is “Confident in Christ!”

When most young people come to summer camp, they have what we call “24 hours of fear.” The first 24 hours of camp are the most important to ensuring they have a great week. They first go through doubt, “why did I come?” Young people doubt their decision to come because it’s uncomfortable to meet new people and strangers. It is always much easier to stay home. However, it is our job to make sure they know they are in for a good week! After doubt goes away they then move on to insecurity. The “What if’s?” set in. What if I don’t make friends, what if I do something that looks silly, what if, what if, what if. We do this as adults as well. We remember being young and having these same exact feelings.

At summer camp, we make it our mission to empower each and every young person to overcome these feelings! It is our mission in the first 24 hours to connect with each camper in a very special way! We want your camper to be confident in our favorite friend, Jesus!

Our theme text is Philippians 1:6 which says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Your camper’s week at summer camp will be filled with moments of yes, fear, but will be overcome with confidence! Your camper’s time will be filled with moments of doubt, but we will empower you camper to know that Jesus is doing the good work in them that they need to conquer the future that is set before them! It is our goal to make sure that your camper not only has a week that they will never forget, but one in which they also grow in Jesus grace, power, and strength!

If you have any questions about camp do not hesitate to contact us! We look forward to spending a week with your special your person this summer!
