First Full Day in Israel for Wisconsin Conference Pastors

First Full Day in Israel for Wisconsin Conference Pastors

Forty-two pastors, family members and friends arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, Friday evening to meet and begin a 8-day tour with Greg King and his wife, Mary. Greg is Chair of the New Testament Department at Southern Adventist University, and Mary teaches Nursing there as well. We stayed overnight in a hotel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in view of Joppa.

Today, Sabbath, March 2, the group met for Sabbath worship, then headed to Joppa where in Bible times Jonah set sail for Tarshish, Dorcas was raised to life, and where Simon the Tanner lived. Then we sloshed over a mud trail through the Valley of Elah, where David slew Goliath. We re-read and re-enacted to story of David and Goliath while here, and many of us collected five smooth stones from the valley to bring home as souvenirs. We then traveled to Bethlehem for a late lunch in view of Jerusalem. Later we drove through the Judean Desert down to spend the night near the Dead Sea. Our tour continues through March 9. Watch for new updates and pictures right here on the Wisconsin Conference website each day, March 2-9, 2019.
