Marsh, Charlyn

Hillside Christian School, Head Teacher, Grades K-8

I began my teaching career at Hillside Christian School right out of college in 1990. After a few years, I decided to stay home to raise my children. My husband taught at Hillside during this time and I continued to come in to school to teach music. When my children began school, I increased the time I spent at school by teaching reading. One year I taught a group of 3 kindergarteners. What a fun experience! A few years ago, my husband took a job teaching in public school so I came back to my original job. I truly love teaching – each day is an adventure! I am a product of Adventist Education and I firmly believe Adventist Education is high quality education in a safe, caring environment. I love teaching in a small school because I teach many of the same students year after year. I can watch them change and grow physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually. I especially love when former students stop by to say ‘hi’ on their school breaks. It tells me they had a positive experience at school.
